1=Abundant, almost certain to be seen on any given day in the proper habitat
2=Common, seen on most days in the proper habitat
3=Fairly common, present in lower densities than 1 and 2; subject to more fluctuation
4=Uncommon, present in very low densities but still regular
5=Rare, present but not to be expected. Anywhere from one to a few records per year
6=Very rare, represented by just one or two sightings ever. Please report!
Key to Status Codes
All species are assumed to be year-round residents unless designated with one of the status codes listed here.
B = Breeding resident, present mostly from March to October, depending on species
T = Transient, present in passage only, mostly March to May and September to November
N = Nonbreeding “winter” resident, present mostly from September to May, depending on species
L = Local transient, short distance migrant
i = irregular, species may be common one year, absent in others

Fo = Forest- old growth
Fy = Forest- younger successional areas, edges
Fr = Forest- higher ridges, 100m or more above the elevation of the lodge
W = Waterways- rivers, lagoons, streams, etc.

M = Mangroves
S = Shore, including mudflats and tidal areas
O = Overhead, usually refers to soaring birds which may be seen over any habitat
